Benefits of Purchasing LP Generators
LP generators have been an increasingly recognized and growing source of alternative energy for many years. We have outlined some of the benefits and uses when owning LP generators:
- EPA Tested and approved.
- Odorless, releases as gas but dissipates in air if spilled.
- Longer shelf life than regular gasoline generators.
- No re-fueling required, LP generators connect to cylinders.
- Long running power at exception cost value.
- Available in wide range of power ratings.
- Offered as portable propane generators, 3 phase generators, or standby generators.
- Number one choice for emergency back-up power.
- Easily transportable cylinders.
- Lower fire hazard than other fuels due to containment and less toxins.
Determining LP Generator Power Rating
TEMCo has Technical Consultants that offer free consultations to assist you in determining your complete power wattage requirements. The power rating on an LP generator is how much wattage your generator will output. The wattage will define the strength of power and operational running time (when coupled with the size of the fuel container and the total amount of calculated amps/watts you are powering). You may also look at a generator sizing chart to figure the power rating and size of LP generator which will best meet your specifications.
If you prefer to figure your LP generator power arting on your own, total the number of applications wattage you wish to power prior to contacting your sales consultant. Other generator power specifications you may require include horsepower, kilowatts and voltage input/output.
Do-it-yourself Calculations:
- Volts X Amps (amperes) = Watts
- Amps = Watts/Volts
- 1,000 Watts = 1Kilowatt (kW)
- 746 Watts = 1 HP
- RPM (revolutions per minute)
- Determine HP by dividing RPM by 750
